Diversity

saves_lives_logo

Diversity is an integral element of our mission that connects the communities and constituents that we serve, the staff and volunteers that work with us, and the donors that support us, all in an effort to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.

Workforce

The American Cancer Society believes that talented volunteers and staff who reflect the communities and constituents affected by cancer are one key to our success in eliminating cancer as a major health problem. We welcome and celebrate employees and volunteers from different cultures, experiences, and geographies, with a variety of styles and viewpoints, to provide greater insight into our programs and services. We continue to partner with diverse professional organizations and civic groups to educate their members and inform them of employment opportunities. The greater the diversity of our people, the better we can serve our communities. That is how we define success.

Workplace

By attracting, developing, and retaining the best talent, the American Cancer Society is able to explore new ideas, promote innovation, and create a culture that mirrors the communities we serve nationally and internationally. This fosters a productive environment where each person can contribute individually and collaborate on teams, where our differences are valued just as much as our similarities, and where our people reflect the richness and diversity of the communities we serve. We offer an environment that emphasizes teamwork, mutual respect, and personal leadership. And all volunteers and staff have the opportunity to attend diversity awareness training sessions as well.

At the American Cancer Society, we are committed to creating a diverse work environment where both staff and volunteers are included, respected, and supported—allowing everyone to maximize their potential and be their very best.

The American Cancer Society has incorporated "interoperable" electronic and information technologies to ensure that applicants with disabilities—who may be using assistive technology/adaptive software and adaptive strategies—can effectively interact and communicate with our online application system. If you are having difficulty, due to a disability, in using our online application system (or would like to explain any other problem you are having in applying for a job because of a disability), please contact us at 1-800- 227-2345 to request accommodation so that we may ensure that you can submit a timely application and have an equal opportunity to compete for jobs.

It is the policy of the American Cancer Society not to discriminate against any employee or any applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status or veteran status. This policy shall include, but not be limited to, the following: recruitment and employment, promotion, demotion, transfer, compensation, training, layoff and termination.
