Camp Live-A-Dream

Camp Live A Dream is a camp sponsored by the American Cancer Society that allows young people who have ever been diagnosed with cancer to enjoy everything that makes summer and summer camp special. At Camp Live A Dream we provide a normal, active, and safe camp experience where children can celebrate life while living through their cancer journey.

As we celebrate our 25th year at Camp Live A Dream, this is sure to be our best summer yet!  You DO NOT want to miss out! Join us for a week of fun and excitement with old friends and new!  Activities will include swimming, inflatables, a field trip, waterfront activities, a ropes course, video games, sports, karaoke, and so much more! 

Who can camp?
Youth ages 9 to 17 who have ever been diagnosed with cancer may attend Camp Live A Dream.

When is Camp?

Camp is scheduled for Sunday, June 17 through Friday, June 22, 2012

Where is Camp?
Camp Live A Dream takes place in air-conditioned cabins at Central Oklahoma Christian Camp, located south of Guthrie.

How much does Camp cost?
Camp Live A Dream is an experience provided at NO COST to all campers.

What kind of medical accommodations are provided?
Campers need not be in remission to attend camp, but they should be well enough to enjoy the week’s activities. Medical personnel are available around-the-clock to administer routine chemotherapy, arrange for blood counts, handle medical emergencies that may arise, and adjust any program to meet campers’ needs.

Who staffs Camp Live-A-Dream?
The Camp Live A Dream committee carefully selects qualified staff members to ensure the safety of all campers. Staff members include physicians, oncology nurses, and camp counselors.

American Camp Association Accreditation
Camp Live A Dream has passed a 300-standard review to become accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). The ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. ACA accreditation helps to ensure summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.
