High Plains Childhood Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program Recipients

college

The American Cancer Society, High Plains Division, is proud to announce that for the 2011-2012 academic year 100 youth will be awarded scholarships from the Society’s Childhood Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program totaling $50,000. The scholarship program is tailored to students who are defeating cancer and are seeking an undergraduate degree in an institute of higher learning, including universities, community colleges, vocational, or technical schools.

The scholarship program is funded by American Cancer Society fund raising activities.  While nothing can compensate for the hardships endured by these young men and women, the American Cancer Society believes the scholarships will offer these courageous young people an educational foundation from which they may pursue their career aspirations.

Scholarships are granted to selected applicants who were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21 and are under the age of 25 at the time of application. They will be eligible for up to $1,000 tuition grant per academic year.
