Pennsylvania Volunteer Honored with St. George National Award

Samuel Monismith, D.Ed., associate professor of health education at the Pennsylvania State University and chairman of the Pennsylvania Division Board of Directors, is one of twenty-seven esteemed American Cancer Society volunteers who received the Society’s St. George National Award for distinguished service to their community in support of the Society’s mission of saving lives from cancer.

Health and Human Services Unveils New Prevention Program

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced in late September the release of $373 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to fund a new public health program “Communities Putting Prevention to Work.”
