About Our Facility
The American Cancer Society’s Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge is a unique “home away from home” for those who need warm, caring, no-cost accommodations during their cancer treatment at a New Orleans area medical facility. The facility is named in memory of Patrick F. Taylor who was a true American hero who believed in the power of the American people. He was a successful oilman, philanthropist and educational reformist who inspired young people to dream. Mr. Taylor was a strong supporter of all branches of the United States military. He was an ally and friend to our men and women at all levels of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. He will forever be remembered as a national role model for creating and implementing the Taylor Plan across the United States. Mr. Taylor was the Chairman, President and CEO of Taylor Energy Company until his death on November 5, 2004.

The goal of the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge program is to help patients cope with the cancer treatment process. The Hope Lodge provides a supportive environment for patients, and at the same time, it eases the financial strains that come with this disease. Guests of the Hope Lodge are cancer patients receiving outpatient treatment away from home. Accommodations are provided free of charge.
Hope Lodge not only provides patients with a place to stay, but it also offers a supportive environment where patients can focus on wellness. A full crew of American Cancer Society staff and volunteers help create a relaxing and informative environment. In addition, Hope Lodge guests have access to the American Cancer Society’s nationally acclaimed National Cancer Information Center and Web site. These services connect cancer patients and caregivers to information on cancer, local resources, support groups and patient service programs.
Guests of the Hope Lodge enjoy rooms with a private bath and television. Other amenities include a shared kitchen, library, dining room, living room and laundry room. Guests are able and encouraged to make themselves very much at home, engaging in such normal everyday activities as buying groceries, preparing meals, doing dishes, working at a computer terminal or watching television. Hope Lodge provides a positive environment for those seeking either privacy or the supportive fellowship of others experiencing similar circumstances and emotions.
