Fathering children and cancer treatment

Some cancer treatments can cause men to become unable to father a child (infertile). If you want to have a child, talk to your doctor before starting treatment. One option may be to bank (save and preserve) your sperm. (See our document, Fertility and Cancer: What Are My Options? for more details.) If you are not sure whether you want to be a father in the future, check out a sperm bank to learn more about the costs and how it’s done.
