Web Site Frequently Asked Questions

There's so much information here. Sometimes I have trouble finding my way around.

We've organized our site into five major sections; all accessible from the global navigation bar at the top of every page. You can always get back to the home page as well by clicking the American Cancer Society logo in the upper left corner of any page or the “Home” button on the global navigation bar.  The "Site Map" link on the footer gives a good "at-a-glance" overview of the site's contents.

I still can't find the information I'm looking for. What now?

Try using our Search tool, which you can reach by clicking the "Search" box located on the home page as well as the right hand side of all pages. To search, simply type a word or phrase in the box and click the Search button.

Isn't there any way to communicate with a live person?

Absolutely. Just click "Contact Us" from the global footer and follow the directions from there. If you need immediate assistance, please call our National Cancer Information Center at 1-800-227-2345. Trained Cancer Information Specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to answer your questions.  You can also use our “Chat” feature which allows you to talk virtually with a cancer specialist.

Sometimes I have trouble printing all of the information on my screen. What can I do to fix this?

Every article page has a print button at the top right of each page. Clicking that icon will take you to a page that is specially formatted for easy printing. Otherwise, you may need to change your printer's page orientation from "Portrait" to "Landscape."

What Web browser do I need to use this Web site?

Our site can be viewed with the following:

  • Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
  • Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or higher

Certain styles of the website do not look correct if you are using Internet Explorer 6.0.  We recommend installing the latest version on your computer in order to get the best user experience.

I have a hard time reading the small text font on this Web site. Is there anything I can do to make it bigger?

Yes, you can click on our text control buttons at the top right of every page to make the text larger.
