| IRS Form 990 | |
|
The IRS form 990 is an annual federal income tax return that all charitable corporations that are exempt from income tax are required to file. The figures in these statements are presented in accordance with IRS regulations, which in some cases are at variance with generally accepted accounting principles. The American Cancer Society is required by the IRS to submit multiple Form 990's each fiscal year. Currently, one Form is filed for its National Home Office; another Form presents a combined basis for its chartered Divisions, the American Cancer Society of Puerto Rico, Inc., American Cancer Society Foundation, and for ACS Products, Inc., which sells mission related products. Because these statements each only present a piece of the American Cancer Society's operations, and because they include material inter-company income, expenses, assets, and liabilities, they cannot be used to obtain an accurate picture of the American Cancer Society as a whole. However, they are included on our web site in order to comply with IRS regulations requiring these forms to be widely available to the public. The following IRS Form 990's are available: For Fiscal Year Ended August 31, 2008 (PDF) For Fiscal Year Ended August 31, 2007 (PDF) For Fiscal Year Ended August 31, 2006 (PDF) |
