American Cancer Society, Florida Division’s
College Scholarship Program
Eligibility:
1. Diagnosis of cancer before age 21
2. A legal resident of Florida
3. Under the age of 21 at the time of application
4. Plan to attend a college or university in Florida. (Consideration will be given to students pursuing an education in regionally accredited vocational technical schools.)

Awards will be based on financial need, scholarship, leadership and community service.

The Scholarship Award:
The American Cancer Society will pay up to $3,000 per year in tuition assistance and may provide an additional $300.00 textbook allowance.

American Cancer Society scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average during their freshman year, and a 2.5 grade point average thereafter. Scholarships are limited to a maximum 130 semester hours, over a maximum of five years. Recipients are required to complete 10 hours of American Cancer Society community service annually to be eligible for scholarship renewal. (Exceptions will be made for students in cancer treatment and students who have experienced family hardships.)

Process to Apply:
Application packets are mailed to eligible students upon request. Students must submit their applications before the April 10 annual due date and enclose the following information:
• Three letters of recommendation (including one from a teacher and one from a physician)
• Financial aid form
• Student’s and parents' latest 1040 IRS form
• Goal statement/essay
• Transcript of academic records
• SAT and/or ACT scores

Eligible high school seniors or high school graduates should contact Anna Torrens at (813) 349-4405 at the American Cancer Society’s Florida Division Office, to request an application.
