Did you know that on average, a cancer survivor undergoing radiation therapy would receive 25 to 30 treatments over six consecutive weeks? These frequent and lengthy treatments require the technology and medical expertise of a cancer treatment facility.
To help people with cancer meet this challenge, the American Cancer Society created Hope Lodge. The Hope Lodge is a temporary residential facility that provides free accommodations to cancer patients undergoing treatment.
The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge helps people like Angela and Chad (pictured above), a newly married couple at the time of Angela’s treatment. The Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minn. , helped ease their financial burdens immensely.
In addition to providing tangible resources including private rooms, kitchen facilities, and transportation to treatment facilities, the Hope Lodge also provides a support network and home-like atmosphere for people undergoing treatment for cancer and their families.
“My stay at Hope Lodge was a true blessing that eased our burden tremendously,” Angela, Hope Lodge resident, said. “Staying at Hope Lodge and interacting with other cancer patients and their loved ones was like a 24-hour support group. It was a great opportunity to speak with so many other cancer patients, spouses and loved ones.”
American Cancer Society Hope Lodges can provide support for people with cancer at a critical time.
