Marion, MA - The American Cancer Society's fourth annual Hope Lodge Boston Invitational, held on September 24 at The Kittansett Club in Marion, MA, raised $120,000 to benefit the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston. The Kittansett Club is one of the nation’s most prestigious member-only golf clubs. More than 80 participants, many of whom are members of the Boston business community, participated in the day-long tournament, which included a raffle, cocktails overlooking the bay, and an awards reception.
Fred Hussey, CFP, of Morgan Stanley, and Kevin Bannan of CLI Graphics in Norwell, co-chaired the event. During the reception, Neil Fennessey of South Dartmouth, MA, shared his experience of being one of the first guests to stay at the Hope Lodge Boston and reiterated to participants how important their support of the Hope Lodge is to cancer patients around New England and beyond.
The AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston, is a free, temporary housing facility for cancer patients who must travel more than 40 miles to Boston for treatment. In its first year, the Lodge, located at 125 South Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain, provided free temporary residence to more than 700 cancer patients and family members who traveled to Boston from 35 states and five countries for cancer treatments not available at home. But the Hope Lodge provides more than a temporary home away from home; it provides a support network for patients and caregivers that is unparalleled.
