Silber Fellowship closed until January 2010
The American Cancer Society's Joseph S. Silber Student Fellowship is designed to acquaint undergraduate* and graduate students to the field of cancer research through participation in on-going research in a faculty member’s laboratory in the hope that cancer research will become the student's lifelong interest and/or pursuit.
The fellowship provides a $2,000 stipend for 8-10 weeks between June 1 and August 31 for the student to be engaged hands-on in the sponsor’s lab and gain exposure to cancer research. The summer internship must be conducted at an institution only in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, near Cleveland.
* Seniors graduating in May or June are not eligible.

| Fellows Eligibility | - Undergraduate* and graduate students in good standing who propose a summer internship at an institution in Cuyahoga County, Ohio which offers cancer research training opportunities.
- US citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident or foreign student with visa from the host institution.
- Preference is given to dental, medical, and osteopathic students as well as first-time applicants.
- Must work under the supervision of a participating faculty sponsor in Cuyahoga County.
* Seniors graduating in May or June are not eligible.

| Stipend | $2,000 restricted to support expenses related to the fellowship experience, including stipend. Payment is made in one installment to the sponsor institution and disbursed to each fellow. |
| Selection Process | Applications will be reviewed by a statewide panel of cancer researchers. |
