Cancer doesn't have to be a reason for a child to miss the fun and excitement of camp. Thanks to the generous support of people and businesses, the American Cancer Society’s Southwest Division extends an invitation for summer fun to many children throughout Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada whose lives have been touched by cancer.
New Mexico
Camp Enchantment offers an exciting opportunity for children with cancer to have fun and celebrate life through friendships and discoveries in a safe and respectful atmosphere. Held in June of each year, this one-week camp session is designed especially for kids with cancer and provides opportunities to celebrate life, enhance one's emotional well-being, increase decision-making and coping skills, and to deal with the impact of cancer.
New Mexico’s Sibling Retreat was designed to build supportive relationships. The September Retreat imparts coping skills for brothers and sisters of cancer patients, helping them to deal with the impact of cancer in their lives.
Arizona
Arizona is the home of Camp Sunrise which hosts four separate camp programs, teen retreats and support services to parents. Children ages 8 to 15 who are patients or cancer survivors, enjoy the Camp Sunrise one-week summer camp, a winter weekend retreat, and other activities throughout the year.
Sunrise Sidekicks Camp is a six-day getaway for 8 to 12-year-old brothers and sisters of cancer patients. Sunrise Summer Fun Camp, a special day camp held in Phoenix and Tucson, is tailored for kids between 3 and 7 years old. These are children with cancer as well as their brothers and sisters.
Your American Cancer Society believes kids with cancer should still be able to be "just kids." There's nothing more gratifying than having the capability to send kids to camp!
