Great American Smokeout 30th Anniversary
Schools and Colleges  Workplace  Media Resources  [Advocacy]

Want to help reduce smoking rates, which will in turn reduce deaths from cancer and other major diseases? The American Cancer Society advocates for several tobacco-related public policies that would reduce smoking rates. These include higher cigarette taxes, investments in state tobacco prevention and cessation programs, and smoke-free laws.

These three public policy changes have proven in other states and nations to be absolutely the most effective thing that can be done to save lives lost to tobacco-caused illness. We need advocates who will call, write, and/or visit their elected officials about these public policies.

Participate with other concerned people through the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network and we’ll let you know how and when your help would be most effective.
