Detailed Guide: Castleman Disease
What Are The Risk Factors For Castleman Disease?

A risk factor is anything that might change a person's chance of getting a disease. But risk factors don't tell us everything. Having a risk factor, or even several, does not mean that you will get the disease. Having no risk factors doesn't mean you won't get the disease.

Most patients with Castleman disease (CD) have no known risk factors. In fact, infection with HIV is the only clear-cut risk factor for CD. CD disease is much more common in people with this infection, particularly in those who have developed the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
