States that Have Health Insurance Risk Pools

This is a list of the states that currently offer risk pools (see "Health insurance risk pools" in the section "State coverage and health insurance options for the hard-to-insure"). If your state isn't listed, you may want to contact the state department of insurance (also called the Insurance Commission) to find out if such programs are available in your state. Some states without risk pools have other types of coverage that you may be able to get for your child if certain requirements are met. See the "Additional resources" section entry for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners to find your state's insurance commission, or call directory assistance in your state's capital city.
