How Can I Support School Health
Right now health education is not a priority in our school systems. It needs to be. Part of the reason is because health education is not one of the measured curricula by which schools' performances are judged. To make health education a priority will require change.

It will require recognition that without good health education our children cannot succeed in other subjects.

It will require understanding that health education is more than just a food pyramid. Health education is about drug awareness, physical exercise, decision-making abilities and much more.

It will require environmental changes, at school, at home and in our communities.

And it will require changes in policy.

The American Cancer Society recognizes the importance of prevention and how very important it is to educate children and youth about their health and safety. To find out what you can do as a parent, as a community member or as a school employee to help support and improve health education and health programs, read the information below.

 Parents
Studies show that Parent Involvement in schools is key to student success.
 Schools
Healthy school policies and a healthy school environment can offer students the opportunity to practice and engage in healthy behaviors.
 Community Members
Businesses, faith communities, local government and other organizations and agencies can lend support to advance the agenda for healthy children and youth.
