The goal of CPS-3 is to better understand ways to prevent cancer. This younger study population will have environmental and lifestyle exposures that may be meaningfully different from our previous populations and will help us further advance our understanding of the factors that cause or prevent cancer. As we improve our understanding of what causes cancer, CPS-3 will allow us to explore new and emerging hypotheses related to cancer.

Many across the country in communities just like yours, have signed up to participate.

To date 70,216 people have been enrolled in this historic study.

With their help and participation in this study, we will continue our work to eliminate cancer as a major health concern for future generations.

• My father died of cancer and my teenage daughter died hours after her initial diagnosis. As you can see, I have a personal interest in this study and welcome the opportunity to help.
• Although fundraising is important, this experience put me in touch with people on a person-to-person basis and made me feel like I was doing something instead of just throwing money at it.
• I'm really happy to enroll having just lost my dad and knowing that because of research like this my sister is doing better. I really see a huge importance in it.
• I have lost several people close to me from cancer, and I'd like to do something to contribute to the body of knowledge to fight this disease.

• Although I'm not eligible as I am a breast cancer survivor, I emailed over 20 friends to encourage them to enroll.

• The study, to me, is just a wonderful once in a lifetime opportunity to actually jump in on the front lines in the battle against cancer. I just hope that my participation in the study will help somewhere along the line, some kind of answer be found, in the fight against cancer.
• As we've anticipated, it will be probably an hour of time every 2 years. I spend that much time waiting for red lights every year so to me, the commitment is minimal. The opportunity for return is big. So it's an excellent chance to get involved.
• Sometimes you feel helpless, but this is something you can do. It's such an easy thing to do to help. We're going to find a cure and preventive measures so our kids don't have to go through this.
• I'm a stage IV malignant melanoma survivor who participated in a clinical trial. Someone gave me a second chance with the opportunity to participate in research that led to that clinical trial. Now, you can be someone else's second chance by participating in CPS-3.

• If this study (CPS-3) can prevent one parent from getting a phone call like I got, I think the research will be worth it.
• To me it's what those of us who are NOT cancer survivors CAN DO. It's very hard to watch people you love and care about go through cancer. Caregivers, friends, neighbors, co-workers need "something to do" to feel like they are able to help. CPS-3 is that answer.
• My mom is a two-time cancer survivor, and I'm doing everything I can to make sure my children don't ever have to say that…I really, really believe this is part of the answer.
