To be eligible to enroll in CPS-3, men and women should
- be between 30 and 65 years old
- have no personal history of cancer (this does not include basal or squamous cell skin cancer)
- be willing to make a long-term commitment to the study which simply involves completing periodic
follow-up questionnaires.
The goal of CPS-3 is to better understand ways to prevent cancer. Once a person has cancer, the body has been affected by the disease, treatment, and/or lifestyle
changes as a result of the diagnosis. For this reason, we strongly encourage individuals without a
history of cancer to enroll.
CPS-3 enrollment opportunities will take place at selected venues and events and will take about 30 minutes.
The CPS-3 enrollment area at the events will be clearly marked and enrollment will involve:
- completing a brief survey
- signing an informed consent
- providing a waist measurement
- providing a small blood sample (similar to a doctor’s visit).
Hours of operation for the CPS-3 enrollment area will vary by event site so please contact your
local CPS-3 Volunteer Chair, event staff, or local ACS office for enrollment hours.
If you are interested in becoming a member of this historic study, please see the “Locations of Enrollment” information that
highlights the various locations in your community that will be conducting CPS-3 enrollment.
