Delegating Patient Tasks
Both the cancer patient and the cancer caregiver will have many new responsibilities. Now is the time to take people up on their offers to help. The lists below will give you an idea of what kinds of tasks lie ahead and what kinds of people are best suited to each.
 The Emotional Supporter
The emotional supporter is caring, compassionate, and willing to deal with the wide range of emotions that patients and their loved ones will go through after a cancer diagnosis.
 The Organizer
The organizer is just that—organized. If lists, schedules, and note-taking are easy and comfortable for you to make and use, this may be the role for you.
 The Patient Advocate
A patient advocates stands up for the patient. If you are willing to make sure your questions are answered and needs are met, this may be the role for you.
 The Cancer Activist
A cancer activist works to influence, energize, and stimulate action to make changes in cancer care. This is an indirect way in which you can make a difference for all cancer patients and families, not just the person you know and love.
