We are especially pleased to have Holly Polanic on board as one of our Hope Lodge Coordinators. She survived childhood cancer and attended the American Cancer Society’s Camp Catch-A-Rainbow, a week-long summer camp experience for children who have or have had cancer. Later, she participated in the Young Adult Retreat, which gathers young adult cancer survivors for a weekend of sharing and support. Most recently, she was a recipient of an American Cancer Society Young Survivor Scholarship, which helps young cancer survivors pursue their dreams of a college education. Holly and all of the Hope Lodge Coordinators serve Hope Lodge guests with their passion for supporting others on their cancer journeys.
“What brought me to Hope Lodge is simple: a strong desire to give back and to say ‘thank you’ for all I’ve been given throughout my journey with cancer,” Holly said. “I am here to share my personal story with guests and caregivers, and to lend an understanding ear for their thoughts, concerns, and questions.
“What I treasure most is the opportunity to offer hope, support, and encouragement, and to be a part of such an invaluable resource for cancer patients and their families. It’s an amazing feeling to know that Hope Lodge removes such a burden for guests and families who must travel for their cancer treatment.”
