How to Get Research Grants: Insights from the ACS, NCI and Private Foundations (B002)
Workshop Description
Need grant funding for your research? In this workshop you will hear from three funding agencies: The American Cancer Society, the NCI and from a private foundation. All three fund research projects that focus on reducing disparities; some even have special funding allocated to this area of research. Each has different requirements, eligibility guidelines and dollars to fund you, but all encourage you to apply. At this session you will find out what you have to do (and not do) to increase your chances of securing funding for your projects. You will get both a bird's-eye view and also hear about the nuts-and-bolts. Sign-up sheets for a limited number of individual appointments will be available at the end of the meeting on a first-come, first-served basis. If you want funding for your project, then this is where you need to be.
Workshop Objectives
The participants will be able to:
- identify the funding mechanisms and priorities of the presenting organizations as they relate to the elimination of disparities
- recognize key elements of strong grant applications and associated with successful funding requests
