Florida Couple Celebrates Marriage at Mahattan Hope Lodge
On February 15, Brad and Gabi Fedor were smiling brightly at their wedding reception in the Society’s newly opened Hope Lodge in Manhattan. Brad, 42, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in September 2007. Determined not to let cancer get in the way of their future together, the couple was married in November in a courthouse ceremony in their home town of Boca Raton days before heading to New York City for Brad’s treatment. On February 15, their fellow cancer patients and caregivers, along with the staff of the Hope Lodge, hosted a reception to celebrate their marriage.

The Hope Lodge is one of many free programs and services the Society offers to patients, caregivers and survivors through its Cancer Resource Network. Since 1970, the Society has been operating Hope Lodge facilities nationwide, providing free temporary lodging for cancer patients and caregivers who have to travel away from home to receive the most effective treatment. It is a place where people thrive in a home-like environment, sharing encouragement and support with others going through similar experiences. There are 26 locations in 18 states and Puerto Rico, and several new locations are in development.
