What is the Mammography Facility Guide?

Developed by the American Cancer Society, the guide is designed as a complete and unbiased source of information on mammography facilities in Indiana. The information contained in this guide is provided voluntarily by each facility through a survey and prices may be subject to change. It compares services, price, and other information to help women choose the mammography facility best suited for them.

A recent large study from the National Cancer Institute found that digital mammography was more accurate in finding cancers in women younger than 50 and in women with dense breast tissue. The Indiana Mammography Facility Guide includes information identifying which sites in Indiana offer digital mammography. It is important to remember that standard film mammography is still effective for these groups of women and that they should not forego their regular mammogram if digital mammography is not available. Find out more about mammograms and other breast imaging procedures.

You can also sign up for a free email mammogram reminder and encourage the women you love to the same.

Learn about the factors that may affect your risk for breast cancer, and find out what you can do to help detect breast cancer early, when it is likely to be most easily treated.

If you have concerns about paying for your breast cancer screening, visit our paying for breast cancer screening page. Low-cost and free mammograms are also available to eligible women, age 40-64, through local health departments. For more information about low-cost or free mammograms, call 1-800-227-2345.

Please note: The Indiana Mammography Guide is updated periodically, so if your county is not yet listed, check back soon. Or, call 1-800-227-2345 for information on mammograms in your area.
