Marion, MA - The American Cancer Society's 6th annual Hope Lodge Boston Invitational will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011, at the prestigious Kittansett Club in Marion, MA. The tournament provides a great day of serious golf at one of the county’s greatest courses.

Since its inception, the Hope Lodge Boston Invitational has raised more than half a million dollars for the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston, a program of the American Cancer Society. For many, cancer treatment at medical centers in Boston offers the greatest hope of beating their cancer. However, the cost of traveling far from home and the added expense of hotels, meals, transportation and additional medical costs can make that option prohibitive for many. The Hope Lodge is a temporary home away from home made available at no cost to patients and their families who must travel far from home to receive treatment and provides these patients with access to quality medical care and  a support system that is unparalleled. Guests share common areas at the Hope Lodge and can learn from each other’s experiences as well as lean on each other for support. The Hope Lodge is a tangible reflection of the American Cancer Society's commitment to improving the quality of life for cancer patients and their loved ones. Since its opening in November 2008, the Lodge has provided over 32,300 nights of free lodging to 1,131 cancer patients from 40 states and 10 countries, saving them over $5.9 million in housing costs.

Our 2010 Event

Last year, more than 80 participants, many of whom are members of the Boston business community, participated in the day-long tournament, which included a raffle, cocktails overlooking the bay, and an awards reception. They raised more than $120,000.

Fred Hussey, CFP, of Morgan Stanley, and Kevin Bannan of CLI Graphics in Norwell, co-chaired the event. During the reception, Neil Fennessey of South Dartmouth, MA, shared his experience of being one of the first guests to stay at the Hope Lodge Boston and reiterated to participants how important their support of the Hope Lodge is to cancer patients around New England and beyond.
