Volunteers Needed to Drive Patients to Their Cancer Treatments

If you need a ride to treatment or want to volunteer to drive patients to their treatments, call us today at 1.800.227.2345.

The American Cancer Society needs volunteer drivers to ensure that cancer patients get to and from their lifesaving treatments. Too often patients delay their cancer treatments because of lack of transportation.

All it takes to become an American Cancer Society Road to Recovery volunteer is a safe driving record, a valid driver's license, some free time, a vehicle in good working condition, and the desire to make a difference.

"As a Road to Recovery driver, I am able to help some of the thousands of cancer patients who need help getting to treatment. Just a small amount of my time helps make a real difference in the lives of people who are coping with cancer. I make sure they get to the doctor, but I also make sure they know someone cares."

"I don’t have family in the area, so without Road to Recovery, I would not have been able to make most of my appointments. Road to Recovery volunteers helped me beat cancer by making sure I got the treatments that saved my life."
– Road to Recovery Patient

This volunteer opportunity is designed to be an easy and stress-free service for both cancer patients and volunteers. We’re flexible! Let us know when you can help and we’ll match a volunteer opportunity to fit your schedule. Training sessions, maps, and directions are provided. Cancer treatment appointments take place on weekdays, primarily during business hours.

Lack of transportation has become a major problem for thousands of cancer patients. Many need daily or weekly treatment, often over the course of several months and they don’t have a car or family members who can help, or they are simply too ill to drive.

Road to Recovery is the very essence of the American Cancer Society mission – people helping people overcome cancer. Won't you help a patient get on the road to recovery?

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a volunteer driver, please contact the American Cancer Society at 1.800.227.2345.

Road to Recovery is a free service. Patients do not need a physician’s referral, but advance notice is required. To schedule a ride, call 1.800.227.2345.
