American Cancer Society Cancer Research Fellowship
Now Open for Application by February 16, 2011
The Cancer Research Fellowship is intended to attract outstanding clinicians and scientists in Ohio to explore and pursue careers in oncology upon completion of their specialty training. The program is specifically designed to encourage Ohio clinicians to engage in basic or clinical academic research. The fellowship is intended for first-time applicants.
The stipend for the Cancer Research Fellowship is $9,600 for the designated period and is restricted to salary only. Payment will be made in one upfront allotment to the institution on behalf of the fellow.

REQUIREMENTS (FELLOWS)
A. Must be MD, DO, DDS, PhD in Nursing or other clinicians at an Ohio academic institution not currently on a research track. PhDs and those attaining Assistant Professor are ineligible.
B. Must be recommended by a sponsor or advisor who is actively doing cancer-related research in Ohio.
C. Must complete the application materials (Abstract, Research Plan) and attach sponsor's statement of support.
D. Must show sufficient cause by background and interest to indicate his or her potential for future investigative work in cancer.
E. Must have sufficient time to dedicate to research.
F. Must be a resident of Ohio and complete the fellowship in Ohio during the funding period.
G. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
H. Should not be receiving other American Cancer Society funding for support of salary.
