Crafting a better world
A.C. Moore campaign raised $150,000 for the American Cancer Society in 2012
Clifton, NJ – (February 28, 2013) The height of the breast cancer awareness season is behind us but our amazing partners deserve a shout out year round. That’s because funds raised through their efforts help thousands of breast cancer survivors January through December, funding groundbreaking research and helping provide access to mammograms for women who need them.
A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts is one of those partners, raising more than $150,000 for the fight against breast cancer in October 2012. This fundraising program is part of A.C. Moore's "Crafting a Better World” campaign which has raised more than $1.1 million for various nonprofit organizations since 2010.
“The American Cancer Society has one of the top breast cancer awareness and fundraising programs in the country, and we are proud to support the efforts of both the Society and those who are continuing to fight breast cancer,” said Pepe Piperno, Chairman of the Board of A.C. Moore. “We’re also immensely proud of our customers and associates who worked to raise these funds, especially during the difficult economy.”
Customers were able to donate $1 to the American Cancer Society at the time of purchase, as well as show their support by creating a Pink Ribbon Pin at a free Make & Take in October. All 141 stores participated in the campaign, with the following stores rising to the top in their fundraising efforts:

About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
