Drink Wine, Fight Cancer
On Monday, October 25, Vinitaly Tour is coming to New York for a unique opportunity to taste over 200 wines from a variety of the best Italian producers. The event will take place at EATALY, the Italian culinary complex in Manhattan created by restaurateurs Mario Batali, Joseph Bastianich, and Lidia Bastianich. The American Cancer Society has been selected as the charity of choice for this spectacular night.
Vinitaly, the ambassador of Italian wines, will be donating all proceeds from tickets sales to Vinitaly Day at Eataly to the American Cancer Society. The event is expected to raise over $25,000. Wine lovers can purchase tickets online http://gala.acsevents.org/vinitaly. Food Network’s Anne Burrell will attend the event
"Vinitaly's selfless dedication to eliminating cancer in our lifetime through 'Vinitaly Day at Eataly' is truly remarkable, and we are honored to be working with an organization that is fully committed to creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays," said Don Distasio, Eastern Division CEO, American Cancer Society.
“Those of us who work in the world of Italian wine feel very fortunate every day, and it is our honor to share our good fortune with those in need,” said Ettore Riello, President of Veronafiere, which is the organizer of Vinitaly.
“Everybody loves the Italian table. It is where family and friends gather and partake in the good balance of life toasting with a good bottle of Italian wine,” said Lidia Bastiainich of Eataly. “So welcome and salute-to-health from Vinitaly and Eataly to the American Cancer Society. ‘Tutti a travola a mangiare e bere, bene e sano.’”
