Eligible Participants

The High Plains Media Awards is dedicated to recognizing journalists and media outlets in the six states of the High Plains Division: Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. Bloggers residing within the six state division are welcome to enter a submission.

Date of Your Story

Entries must be published / aired between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

Story Criteria

We are seeking cancer-related stories dealing with prevention, early detection, research, treatment, services, education, survivorship, and patient/family experiences. While we know there are many fundraising stories, these stories are not eligible unless there is a strong connection to survivorship or one of the topics above. Many Relay For Life events include media coverage related to survivorship and other components of our story criteria. For this reason, we have created a special Relay For Life category.

Entries do not need to involve the American Cancer Society or its programs. Of course, the Society’s programs such as Reach to Recovery, Relay For Life, the Great American Smokeout, and others may be the subject of your entry, but that is by no means a prerequisite. We hope you will take the time to submit your cancer-related work.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The High Plains Media Awards recognizes journalists in 27 categories. Entries are categorized by media outlet type and size, but also by content. To select a category for your entry, please choose the type of media outlet the entry was published/aired in. Then select a category for the appropriate content of the entry.
