Lilly Pulitzer Raises Hope with the American Cancer Society at Atlanta Hope Lodge
ATLANTA - In honor of the American Cancer Society’s 100th birthday this year, Lilly Pulitzer, the authentic resort chic fashion brand owned by Oxford Industries, Inc. (NYSE:OXM), will dedicate its time to redecorating a portion of the Society’s Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge in Atlanta. The Lilly Pulitzer makeover will take place on Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22 at the Atlanta Hope Lodge, 1552 Shoup Court just off Clairmont Road on the Emory campus in Decatur.
The Lodge provides free housing for cancer patients (along with their caregivers) while they are undergoing treatment in metro Atlanta.
Lilly Pulitzer will bring splashes of color, pops of print and custom artwork to the Activity and Game Rooms to make Atlanta Hope Lodge feel even brighter and more like a home away from home. The Activity Room and Game Room will be anchored by two hand-painted pieces of art. Lilly Pulitzer in-house artists will be at the Hope Lodge to hand-paint a Lilly print on a wall in the Game Room (shh! The print is a surprise). Entering the Activity Room, guests will be drawn to a focal wall with a canvas painted by the artists.
Pops of playful prints and pattern will continue to flow throughout the spaces in plush pillows, cushions, and artwork to create an environment for guests to relax, concentrate on getting well, and enjoy time with their families.
The Atlanta Lodge is one of 31 Hope Lodges nationwide, all offering a home away from home for cancer patients and caregivers who have to travel from home to receive cancer treatment. Free housing at Hope Lodge for the duration of treatment saves cancer patients millions of dollars every year and enables them to focus on what’s really important: getting well. The Atlanta facility has 52 guest suites.
Also in honor of the Society’s 100th birthday, Lilly’s print department has designed a special edition Lilly Pulitzer print. The exclusive print features iris flowers, symbolizing hope, and flowing pink breast cancer awareness ribbons. Twenty percent of the proceeds from merchandise with the Society print will support their work in breast cancer research, education, early detection, and patient services.
On October 12, Lilly shoppers across the country will also show their support of the American Cancer Society through Lilly’s Nationwide Shop & Share Event. During this extraordinary event, Lilly will contribute ten percent of sales from all retail stores to the Society.
“One of the greatest gifts we can give as a brand is to create a special print just for a charity, so of course we wanted to do that for the American Cancer Society in honor of their 100th birthday,” said Janie Schoenborn, Vice President of Creative Communications for Lilly Pulitzer. “We are honored to carry on Lilly’s tradition of charitable giving. As one of our favorite quotes of hers states, ‘If you haven’t any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.’ ”
