Mile One Donates Luxury Car for 13th Year to Relay For Life Raffle
For the 13th consecutive year, Mile One Automotive donated a fabulous newcar that was raffled to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s 2013 Relay for Life.
More than 10,000 raffle tickets were sold throughout Maryland and the surrounding region for a chance to win the car, a 2013 Touring Mazda, raising $50,000 to support the lifesaving cancer research, free cancer support services, and screening and prevention programs provided by the American Cancer Society.
Raffle tickets were sold by Relay For Life participants and American Cancer Society volunteers. Approximately 30 Relay For Life events take place from March through summer.
The winning ticket for the car was drawn at the Joppatowne Relay For Life on June 14. The winner wishes to remain anonymous.
Mile One’s annual Relay For Life car raffle was established in 2000 by former Mile One Automotive CEO Jerry Fader, who passed away from cancer two years ago. His son Scott Fader, now CEO of Mile One, is carrying on his father Jerry Fader’s legacy of supporting the American Cancer Society, which included raising millions to help the Society fight cancer and donating a transportation van for the Society’s Hope Lodge facility in downtown Baltimore. Mile One is also an annual flagship sponsor of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
