Areas reviewed: Grant applications investigating tumor-related changes in cellular lipid, carbohydrate, and protein chemistry associated with altered enzyme function, and cellular metabolism, especially as they affect cell membrane structure and biochemistry. Also cancer-related changes in endocrinology and hormone function, and investigations of cell growth factors, the corresponding membrane receptors for cellular binding of factors, and the signaling pathways by which hormones control cell growth and cell differentiation.
