Peter T. Campbell, PhD
Director, Tumor Repository

Peter Campbell

Dr. Campbell received undergraduate (University of New Brunswick, 1997) and master's (York University, 2000) degrees in kinesiology, followed by a doctorate in epidemiology (University of Toronto, 2006). After completing an NHI-sponsored Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer (TREC) postdoctoral fellowship in the Cancer Prevention Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (2006-2008), Dr. Campbell joined the Epidemiology Research Program at the American Cancer Society where he is now Director of the Tumor Repository.

Research Interests

Dr. Campbell is a cancer epidemiologist whose research is focused largely on identifying risk and prognostic factors for cancers that occur in the digestive system, particularly the colon, rectum, liver and gallbladder. His work integrates various aspects of pathology, genetics and molecular biology into epidemiologic studies. He is particularly interested in understanding the impacts of obesity, physical activity, and other lifestyle factors (and their related blood and solid tissue biomarkers) on colorectal cancer incidence and survival.
