Spin for Hope 2009 is scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 9 a.m. - noon, at participating clubs throughout New England.
Once again this year we will be offering corporations a chance to hold Spin for Hope events in their own health club facilities.
The American Cancer Societ Spin For Hope™ is a three-hour indoor cycling event in which individuals and teams cycle for the duration of the event, while making a commitment to raise funds to benefit the American Cancer Society’s programs of research, education, advocacy, and services.
Teams of volunteer cycling instructors from participating clubs facilitate the cycling segments, complete with music and entertainment, and cancer survivors are honored during a special reception and survivor theme segment.
Register as an individual and cycle for the entire three hours, or form a team and take turns cycling. Individuals registering to cycle the entire three hours should strive to raise at least $100 per hour. Those registering as part of a team should strive to raise $100 each.
Be sure to check with your chosen club for bike availability and fundraising minimum requirements before registering online!
To those who have sponsored past Society events, we offer a heartfelt thank you and hope you’ll consider supporting Spin for Hope’s 5th year.
History of Spin
Spin for Hope began in March 2005 with a goal of raising $30,000. That year, six clubs participated, (Boston Athletic Club, Beverly Athletic Club, Manchester Athletic Club, Orchard Hills Athletic Club, Wayside Racquet & Swim, and Worcester Fitness) raising $115,000 via online donations, cash/check donations and corporate sponsorships.
By 2008, the event grew to 37 clubs within New England, raising over $300,000.
