Survivor Advocate Program

The Survivor Advocate program provided travel scholarships for 20 advocates to attend the conference, learn first-hand about key research in cancer survivorship, and to interact with other advocate leaders and survivorship researchers.

Program participants were selected on the basis of their research advocacy experience and the potential impact conference attendance will have on their future advocacy work.

Program Elements

In addition to attending the full research conference, participants in the Survivor Advocate Program participated in:

• Two pre-conference orientation teleconferences
• A three-hour orientation/introductory session at the conference to meet and begin networking with cancer survivorship researchers and other advocates.
• Networking with cancer survivorship researchers and other survivor advocates in the Survivor Lounge.
• Debriefing sessions to plan dissemination techniques and strategies based on knowledge and information gained.
