About Our Facility
The Richard M. Schulze Family American Cancer Society Hope Lodge® in the Twin Cities offers private rooms for the comfort of its guests and their caregiver. Fostering a home-like environment, the Hope Lodge is equipped with a community dining room, kitchen, family room, library and laundry facilities. The Lodge also offers guests a wide variety of cancer programs and services that provide information, resources and support to ease the cancer journey.
The Richard M. Schulze Family American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Facility is equipped with the following.
- 40 private guest rooms with two beds, bathroom, telephone, internet access
- Six fully equipped kitchen where guest prepare their own meals
- Community Dining Room
- Four Television lounges, library, meditation/chapel room, fitness room and outdoor patios
- On site laundry facilities
Over 23,000 people across Minnesota are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many of these patients often spend weeks or months away from home while undergoing required lifesaving treatment at cancer centers in the Twin Cities area. In December 2007. The Richard M. Schulze Family American Cancer Society Hope Lodge opened its doors and became the 25th Hope Lodge and the 2nd Hope Lodge in Minnesota.
The construction of the Hope lodge has been a community effort with a $5 million challenge grant donation from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, which was matched with another $5 million from individual donations. The land was provided by the University of Minnesota through the Minnesota Medical Foundation and the University’s Cancer Center.
The Hope Lodge in the Twin Cities provides over 40 private guest rooms, free of charge, to cancer patients and their caregiver who resides at least 40 miles from the Hope Lodge and who are undergoing active cancer treatment.
The Richard M. Schulze Family American Cancer Society Hope Lodge is staffed by 8 Hope Lodge Staff:
- Manager
- Assistant Manager
- 2 full-time weekday staff
- 4 rotating weekend staff
- Housekeeping and Maintenance staff
- Over 60 volunteers
