Cancer treatment is often a long, emotional experience and meeting the medical needs of cancer patients is only part of the answer. Addressing the human needs is also critical, and that’s what the American Cancer Society’s Tampa Hope Lodge is all about.
Hope Lodge volunteers provide supplemental help for the Hope Lodge director and managers. Our volunteers are crucial to the smooth operation of the facility and to the comfort and happiness of the residents. Ideal Hope Lodge volunteers are dependable, prompt, efficient and pleasant. Volunteering here requires a sincere interest in working hard, accepting guidance and supervision, adherence to Hope Lodge policies and respect for residents and guests.
We need volunteers seven days a week between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. The hourly shifts are flexible and require a minimum commitment of twice a month.
The primary volunteer position is the Information Specialist/Hospitality Desk Volunteer. The hospitality desk is the main communications hub for residents. This position is the first person people see when they enter the Hope Lodge. Information specialists are responsible for signing people in and out, helping direct people, answering the phone and providing basic referral information. This volunteer also supports residents by assisting with their routine needs as necessary.
We also have additional opportunities for individuals and groups.
