Phil Monaghan

Senior Vice President, Talent Strategy

Phil Monaghan currently serves as senior vice president, talent strategy, and is responsible for all aspects of the human resources function, which includes recruiting, training and development, diversity and inclusion, policies and HR systems, and total rewards at the American Cancer Society.

Phil previously served as the vice president of human resources and was responsible for employee relations and the HR business partner team, where he led the delivery of human resources services to the organization. Phil has also held other leadership roles focused on delivery of human resources services to the staff and management of our global headquarters and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. With the American Cancer Society since 2007, Phil first served as the director of talent services, where he helped develop and implement the HR business partner model.

Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Phil spent nine years at NTT Data, a global IT consulting firm, where he held several HR positions focusing on HR business partnering, compensation, and professional development.

Phil has over 20 years of human resource and management experience in the information technology, consulting, nonprofit, government, automotive financial services, health care and energy industries. He has a BS and MBA from Wayne State University and holds several senior and global professional certifications in human resources. He has served on the Human Resources Advisory Council to the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce – Economic Development, and provides HR counsel to the boards and executive leadership of several veteran service organizations. Phil is also active in the Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader and volunteer.
