Breast Cancer Survivors Needed

The American Cancer Society is looking for breast cancer survivors who would like to volunteer for the Reach to Recovery visitation program. Reach to Recovery volunteers help those facing a diagnosis of breast cancer.

Volunteers give patients and family members an opportunity to express feelings, talk about fears and concerns, and ask questions of someone who has been there. Most of all, Reach to Recovery volunteers offer understanding, support, and hope.

Each Reach to Recovery volunteer completes American Cancer Society training so that they can provide up-to-date information. Volunteers make no personal medical comparisons and never give medical advice. If the patient asks medical questions, she is referred to the proper health care professional.

Breast cancer survivors must have completed their own breast cancer treatment at least one year prior to becoming a Reach to Recovery volunteer and have their doctor's approval to participate.

We hope to recruit new volunteers throughout Ohio. If you are a breast cancer survivor who is ready to reach out and help others, sign up now to volunteer or call us at 800-ACS-2345.
