JuRustic Park
Open spring through Labor Day and by appointment
M222 Sugarbush Lane - Marshfield, WI 54449

JuRustic Park is a display of many of the extinct creations that inhabited the large McMillan Marsh near Marshfield during the Iron Age. After amateur paleontologist Clyde Wynia discovered the corroded remains of these creatures he began excavating.

As the rusted components of these critters were recovered they were matched as closely as possible with the original creatures and welded back together to their original forms.

In addition to the metal sculpture, Nancy Wynia has a studio/shop, the Hobbit House, exhibiting her hot glass (beads, flowers, sculpture) fibers (processing natural fibers-knitting, spinning), and life size soft sculpture. There are many pieces of her jewelry, necklaces, bracelets, pins and hairpieces made from handmade glass beads.

JuRustic Park is open most of the spring, summer and fall until 4:30 p.m. There is no admission charge to the public, but a fee is charged for guided group tours. Group tours are available by appointment.

JuRustic Park is located four miles north of Marshfield. Turn off Highway 97 onto Highway E on the north edge of Marshfield at the Wal-Mart stoplight. Go north past Menards 3 1/2 miles to Sugarbush Lane for 1/2 mile until sculptures appear on the right.

World's Largest Round Barn
Central Wisconsin State Fair Park
513 E. 17th Street - Marshfield, WI 54449

The impressive focal point of the Marshfield Fairgrounds is the "World's Largest Round Barn". The round barn was built in 1916 to house purebred animals in 250 stanchions. The barn is 150 feet in diameter and 70 feet high, it is a wonder to behold. Every year during the fair, the round barn is utilized for it's original intent-to display Purebred animals during the shows and sales.

The awesome sight of the arena, with no supporting beams apparent becomes even more wondrous as one realizes this architectural feat was accomplished without benefit of scaffolding. This was done by means of staging. They simply started at the bottom and worked up and in. The only supporting beams evident are the cross beams beneath the cupola. The Round Barn stands stately and is regarded as a prized asset to the fairgrounds.

The barn is also used during Dairyfest for an ecumenical church service. This year, share a moment of history in the making at the Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield held on Labor Day Weekend.

Time for a road trip - Wood County has two other round barns. One is located on County Road S between Country Road C and Hwy O. The other one is located on Lincoln Road, east of Pittsville.
