Can chronic myeloid leukemia be prevented?

There is no known way to prevent most cases of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Many types of cancer can be prevented by lifestyle changes to avoid certain risk factors, this is not true for most cases of CML. The only potentially avoidable risk factor for CML is exposure to high doses of radiation, which is seen in only a few cases.
