The American Cancer Society (ACS) has updated its guideline for human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination. New recommendations are for healthcare providers to routinely offer the HPV vaccine series to boys and girls between ages 9 and 12.
World HPV Infection Expert, Anna Guiliano, PhD, says, we may be able to eliminate cervical cancer in the U.S. because we have effective screening tests and guidelines for how often they need to be done, as well as vaccines to prevent the infections that cause damage, called lesions, to cells in the cervix.
