Foundations

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is grateful to the foundations that share our vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone, and support our work through generous philanthropic support.

As the nation’s preeminent cancer-fighting organization, ACS is the only nonprofit supporting people with all types of cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support. We are the largest nongovernmental funder of cancer research in the US. Our intramural Population Science research team is made up of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, behavioral scientists, and research analysts working to provide cancer surveillance and create guidelines on cancer screenings. Our publications are the most trusted in the cancer field. We remove personal financial barriers to care through free lodging and transportation. Our evidence-based cancer information is available live 24/7 in over 200 languages. Our robust data informs our work, and we seek to improve the future of all cancer patients and families using a health equity lens with the goal of ensuring equal access to quality cancer care for all. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) - the Society's nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate - works with local, state, and federal officials to implement laws and increase funding for proven cancer prevention and early detection measures.

ACS relies on its foundation partners to support our most ambitious nationwide efforts, as well as programs that focus on individual communities across the country.
