Chief People Officer

Emily Sandman serves as chief people officer for the American Cancer Society and is a member of the Executive Team. In this role, Emily leads the organizations’ enterprise people strategy, aligning talent, culture, leadership, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness with their mission and strategic priorities.

Emily joined the American Cancer Society in 2022 as senior vice president, people strategy and experience. In that role, Emily partnered across the enterprise on employee engagement, goal setting, performance processes, compensation modernization, and leadership alignment. Emily's career spans organizational effectiveness, talent and leadership development, HR business partnership, employee experience and insights, and people strategy.

Before joining the American Cancer Society, Emily held increasingly senior roles at QVC and Qurate Retail Group, ultimately serving as vice president, talent experience and insights. Emily led a team of HR professionals across 12 US sites and Europe responsible for global talent experiences, workforce analytics and insights, change management, learning, and organizational development for more than 27,000 team members worldwide.

Emily earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Emily also holds HR certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute. 
 
Emily lives in Pennsylvania with her family.
