Joey Ann Fowkes, CAP®

Director of Estate and Gift Planning

Regions Covered:  New Jersey and Southeastern PA (counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery & Philadelphia)

Joey’s commitment to the American Cancer Society (ACS) began in 2010, following a breast cancer diagnosis of her own. With a desire to pay forward the support Joey received during her own cancer journey, Joey served in a volunteer role as Chair for the ACS Anchorage Wine & Food Festival. Joey then changed careers, moving from a for-profit career in sales and program management and applying those skills to become ACS’ Quality of Life Manager. Upon returning to the east coast in 2013, Joey accepted the role of ACS Director of Estate & Gift Planning role in Philadelphia, where she served for four years.

Joey recently returned to ACS in the same role after spending three years in gift planning positions with the American Heart Association and Habitat for Humanity. This cumulative experience in the planned giving community provided Joey with a variety of opportunities to work directly with donors, prospective donors, and their financial advisors to cultivate and craft meaningful and impactful gifts. Joey returns to ACS with urgency and a personal commitment to serve in the gift planning role for the cause that she holds so dear.

Joey received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Alaska Pacific University and recently received her Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) credential from the American College of Financial Services.

In her spare time, Joey enjoys kayaking, cooking, biking, and hiking in the great outdoors. The beach and lakeside are her happy places. She cherishes family time with her husband, four children, and four grandchildren and her dog Nittany is her best friend. Having just celebrated her 10th-year cancer-free, Joey considers herself one of the lucky ones.
