Statement of need for renovation of the Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge

The American Cancer Society Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge in Nashville opened in 2004 with 41 guest rooms, and provides a comfortable source of lodging, free of charge, for patients and their caregivers traveling to Nashville for cancer treatment.

  • The Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge serves approximately 1,400 cancer patients and caregivers each year with more than 17,000 total nights of lodging.
  • The Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge is now 15 years old and showing many signs of wear.
  • The Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge provides a critically-needed service in a home-like environment. The campaign will help bring the high-use facility up-to-date so it can continue to offer a comfortable home away from home for cancer patients.

The capital campaign will fund the following improvements to the Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge:

  • Remodel and expand the kitchen and dining room areas, adding additional food preparation and dining areas.
  • Refurbish guest suites, including bathrooms.
  • Refurbish existing common areas and the main lobby area.

Being a Hope Lodge guest is a courtesy extended at the sole discretion of the American Cancer Society. All individuals who meet Hope Lodge eligibility requirements will be welcomed regardless of race, creed, citizenship, disability, gender, color, ethnic heritage, veteran status, economic status, or sexual orientation.
