Staying With Us

Our Hope Lodge facility is available to adult patients and caregivers who are actively undergoing outpatient cancer treatment in Honolulu and must travel at least 40 miles (or a one-hour drive) away from home. All guests must be referred by a treating physician’s office to stay in the lodge.

Below are some frequently asked questions by our guests:

What should I pack?

During each stay, we recommend guests to bring the following items in addition to their personal belongings: toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.) and groceries for daily meals (pantry space will be provided for each guest). Linens and towels are provided for each guest.

What time can I check-in and check-out?

Guests may check in during the hours of noon - 8-:00 p.m. any day of the week. The lodge is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by Hope Lodge personnel and an overnight security guard.

How many guests can stay in a bedroom?

The adult patient and their one adult caregiver are included in a room reservation. More than two people per guest room is not permitted. Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to stay in the facility, but may visit during visiting hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Can my family stay at the Hope Lodge if I am in the hospital?

If a patient is admitted to the hospital during their stay at the facility, the guest's room will be held for up to 3 days. If space is available, the caregiver's stay may be extended for up to 10 days. If a new patient needs the room, the caregiver will be asked to make other housing arrangements.

Can I have visitors?

Yes. Visitors are allowed between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on third floor common areas only.  All visitors must sign in and out at the front desk on third floor.

How much will it cost to stay at Hope Lodge?
There is no cost to stay at any American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.

What kind of environment can I expect at Hope Lodge?

Each facility is designed for a shared experience in every other aspect of life.  The facility features common areas, including a full kitchen, laundry facilities, library and an outdoor space.  Hope Lodge is a place where you can count on emotional support from other patients and caregivers who also are undergoing treatment. Directions:

Hope Lodge Hawaii is on 251 South Vineyard Street, not Vineyard Boulevard. We are located near the corner of Queen Emma St., around the corner from an Aloha Petroleum gas station.

From the airport:

Take Nimitz Hwy east toward Waikiki. Nimitz will become Ala Moana Blvd.

When you reach downtown make a left at Alakea St.

Alakea St. becomes Queen Emma St. after crossing Beretania St.

Stay in the right lane and make a right on Vineyard Street just before the Boulevard. If the gas station is on your right you’ve gone too far.
