About Our Facility
Welcome to the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society in the Philadelphia area.
At the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge, we understand that undergoing treatment for cancer can be both financially and emotionally overwhelming. For many, treatment at Philadelphia's medical centers provides the greatest hope, but requires that they be far from home, adding the additional burden of travel and lodging expenses. That is why the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society offers lodging at no cost for cancer patients being treated in the Philadelphia area.
Having cancer is hard. Finding help shouldn't be.
Getting emotional and social support from other survivors can be as important as getting the proper medical care. At the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge, patients live with other people going through similar experiences, and are supported by caring staff and volunteers. The nurturing, comfortable environment at Hope Lodge allows patients to focus on what is most important - getting well.
The AstraZeneca Hope Lodge near the Philadelphia area offers:

While the facility offers many of the comforts of home, the true magic of the Hope Lodge is the inviting atmosphere. Other guests, facing similar circumstances, rally around each other, offering strength and support. At Hope Lodge, the volunteers and staff strive to create an environment where guests can relax and concentrate on getting well.
The AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society became a reality when, recognizing the increased need for affordable housing for cancer patients, AstraZeneca generously offered the lead gift to build the first Hope Lodge in Philadelphia.
Additionally, Fox Chase Cancer Center donated 3.2 acres of land to serve as the future home for the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society in Philadelphia.
Donors', volunteers', and community leaders' vision and commitment added significantly to the milestone of the groundbreaking ceremony in spring 2007 and the grand opening in May 2009. Their support of the Hope Lodge program assures that 1,300 more cancer patients and their caregivers will have a home away from home, allowing up to 13,505 free nights of housing each year while undergoing treatment in Philadelphia.
