Senior Director of Principal Partnerships

Chris Thomas has worked in fund-raising for over 27 years and is presently Senior Director, Principal Partnerships with the American Cancer Society. As part of the National Principle Partnership Team, Chris is focusing on working with donors locally and nationally to secure high-level gifts that will impact the American Cancer Society’s mission with a focus on research. Chris initially joined the American Cancer Society to manage their first Capital campaign and to create their major gift program. He helped guide the New England Division toward their 70 million dollar New England wide capital campaign with a focus on completing the 40 million dollar Greater Boston component of the Campaign and continues to work with lead donors to help support key Division funding needs. He has been with the American Cancer Society for over 23 years.                                         

Chris is a longtime member of the Association of Fund-raising Professionals – Massachusetts Chapter Board of Directors where he has served as president along with a variety of other officer positions and presently serves as mentor co-chair of the Diversity Fellowship program he created. He has additional fund-raising experience as Campaign Director with both the New England Medical Center and the Merrimack Valley United Fund. As a volunteer Chris is on the board of the Needham Community Council, is the Harvard College Admissions Needham Interview Chair, and on the Own Your Piece Board of Advisors. Chris is a graduate of Harvard University and is married with four daughters.
